The War of the Worlds is a 1953 Paramount Pictures Technicolor science fiction film. It is a loose adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic novel "of the same name", and the first of a number of film adaptations based on novels by H.G. Wells. Wikipedia

Produced by George Pal and directed by Byron Haskin from a script by Barré Lyndon. Considered to be one of the great science fiction films of the 1950s.

H.G. Well's classic novel is brought to life is this tale of alien invasion. The residents of a small town in California are excited when a flaming meteor lands in the hills. Their joy is tempered somewhat when they discover that it has passengers who are not very friendly.
